Compare strata winter-service scope and seasonal pricing, with an update on PlowWow’s planned 2026 Snow Intelligence app rollout.

The seasonal total needs a service definition

Owners deserve to know what their winter budget buys. A strata snow removal price should identify the common areas, entrances and routes covered, the service season and the snow and ice work. Unit count alone is a poor substitute for scope: two equally sized strata communities can have very different grades, layouts, pedestrian routes and snow-storage constraints.

Budget for availability as well as attendance

Winter contracts may fund monitoring, readiness, equipment and crew capacity as well as completed visits. A low-snow year does not eliminate every operating cost. Councils should ask how the proposal funds backup and what attendance obligations are actually accepted. A fixed seasonal price, a limited package and per-event billing allocate weather risk differently; compare their terms before comparing totals.

Make additional treatment visible

A snow-clearing visit may already include treatment, so avoid counting that treatment again as an extra salt-only visit. Separate the allowance for additional ice-control work. Identify the product and the treated surfaces, especially ramps, shaded areas and drainage trouble spots. No generic calculator can determine the correct application rate for every surface or weather condition.

Keep changes and exclusions in the council record

Use a marked plan and record contractor clarifications, authorized additions and the accepted seasonal price before tax. Identify who can approve extra work. Common walkway stairs may be part of the agreed route while stairs to individual units remain excluded. Snow relocation and hauling should be separately identified, with their equipment, trucking and other applicable charges explained.

Use an estimate to start a better review

PlowWow, an affiliated IAM network business, is developing a preliminary pricing calculator. It is still being refined and is not a verified accuracy guarantee. A council can request a reviewed quote now, then document what changed from the original assumptions. An online estimate does not replace the accepted contract or the strata’s own approval process.

Part of PlowWow’s Snow Intelligence app rollout

PlowWow’s preliminary pricing calculator is one component of the Snow Intelligence app it plans to roll out during 2026. The intended pricing coverage includes strata common areas, commercial sites and residential properties. For councils, the aim is a clearer starting point for comparing seasonal scope and additional ice treatment before obtaining a reviewed quote. The calculator remains in development; this update does not announce a live automatic quote for every address or a guaranteed accuracy rate.
