Common questions about our strata plumbing services.
What is a plumbing re-fit?+
A plumbing re-fit is a complete upgrade of the plumbing infrastructure in a bathroom, kitchen, or entire suite. This includes replacing old supply lines, drain connections, shut-off valves, and fixtures with modern materials and components. Re-fits are essential for aging Strata buildings where original plumbing is reaching end of life.
Can you re-pipe an entire Strata building?+
Absolutely. Building re-piping is one of our core specialties. We have extensive experience with full building re-piping projects, including phased approaches that maintain water service to residents throughout the process. We work floor-by-floor, completing each suite in 1-2 days.
Do you handle plumbing emergencies after hours?+
Yes, we provide 24/7 emergency plumbing response for burst pipes, major leaks, and flooding situations. Our on-call plumbers can respond quickly to minimize water damage.
What types of piping do you install for re-piping projects?+
We primarily use PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) for supply piping and ABS or PVC for drainage. PEX offers excellent flexibility for routing through existing wall cavities, resistance to corrosion and scale buildup, and proven long-term durability. For specific applications, we also install copper and CPVC where code or conditions require it.
How long does a building re-piping project take?+
Timeline depends on building size and complexity. A typical 30-50 unit building takes 6-10 weeks with our phased approach. We work floor-by-floor, completing each suite in 1-2 days with water service restored by end of day. The phased approach means most residents experience only 1-2 days of disruption.
Do you provide video camera drain inspections?+
Yes, we offer CCTV drain camera inspection for diagnostic purposes. Our camera systems can inspect drain lines from 2-inch suite drains to 8-inch main building stacks, identifying blockages, root intrusion, pipe damage, and connection issues. Camera inspection reports include video footage and written findings.
Can you install water-efficient fixtures to reduce our building's water consumption?+
Absolutely. We install WaterSense certified fixtures including low-flow toilets (4.8L or dual-flush), low-flow showerheads, and aerator faucets that significantly reduce water consumption without sacrificing performance. For Strata buildings, bulk fixture replacement programs offer excellent return on investment through reduced water and sewer charges.
What should we do if we suspect a hidden water leak?+
Contact us for a leak detection assessment. We use a combination of moisture meters, thermal imaging, acoustic listening devices, and pressure testing to locate hidden leaks without unnecessary demolition. Early detection prevents the extensive water damage and mold growth that hidden leaks can cause over time.
Do you handle hot water tank replacements in individual suites?+
Yes, we replace water heaters in individual suites including conventional tank, tankless, and heat pump models. We handle all aspects including disconnection and removal of the old unit, installation and connection of the new unit, gas fitting (if applicable), and municipal inspection. We coordinate with building management for elevator booking and disposal.
